Problem

Health and wellness resources can be overwhelming, particularly for professionals looking for easy-to-digest, trustworthy information. Back to the Roots provides customized content that fits the user’s lifestyle and interests, while creating a digital community to share personal experiences on self-improvement.

Research

Persona Profile

For this project, I created a persona profile to have clear guidance on the problems the blog is looking to solve for its users, as represented in Emma:

“Emma is a 26-year-old woman who loves to implement healthy practices. She enjoys investigating food alternatives and how she can implement them to balance her organism. Emma wants to find transparent and trustworthy sources of information related to topics related to her active lifestyle.”

Define

Empathy Map

Based on the persona profile, I started to expand on Emma’s profile using an empathy map. By assessing what Emma would be noticing as she is reading a blog, I was able to point out the key insights, such as the relevance of time management in the user’s experience and implementing a charismatic and simple tone of copywriting due to the need for relatable content.

Interpret

User Flow Diagram

Considering the insights from the defining stage, I started interpreting the imperatives of the user’s experience. Firstly, I created the user flow diagram based on the findings. For example, the blog would include a quiz to help users filter the blog posts according to their needs. This diagram set the guideline to visualize the fundamental elements in each page and blog entry.

Interpret

Service Blueprint

The previous findings set the roadmap for Emma’s experience with Back to the Roots. The blog-based content will also be shared on social media with the purpose of helping users connect through the various topics discussed in the blog. Additionally, the analysis suggested that the best alternative for our users would be to design an email subscription to receive the latest posts at the desired scheduled time.

Prototype

Wireframes

Once the blueprint was defined, the user experience was reviewed and iterated to create the website's wireframe. Taking the structure considerations from the user flow and looking to create a seamless experience through all platforms, I designed the overall structure presented below:
